Improve Your Default View & Save Time in Outlook
Watch the video for some great tips on how to get the most out of Outlook. Improve your default view in Outlook and ultimately save time as you’re working!
Change your default view in Outlook to a more compact view:
- In your bottom selection bar, click the “…” option to view more and select “Navigation Options”.
- In the pop-up window, check “Compact Navigation” and click “OK”. This will reduce the size of your bottom selection bar.
- To get the most out of your display, go back into “Navigation Options”. Under “Display in this order” select “Folders” and click “Move up” until it is in the number 1 position, making it your default view.
The Folders view shows you ALL folders including Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Notes as well as all your mail folders making for easier navigation! This view comes in handy in many situations and allows you to easily:
- Create a Calendar item from an email message.
- Drag the email over to the “Calendar” folder on the left hand side.
- This automatically creates a new Appointment that includes the subject and body of the email message.
- Create a Task item from an email message.
- Drag the email over to the “Tasks” folder on the left hand side.
- This automatically creates a new Task that includes the subject and body of the email message in the item.
- Add a Contact from an email message.
- Drag the email over to the “Contacts” folder on the left hand side.
- This automatically creates a new Contact item that includes the name and email of the sender as well as body of the email message in their Notes.
